Welcome to our web site & home of our very special “RUMBA” Burmese, .
I am Helen Marriott-Power & bought my first Burmese in 1975. She was a pretty little Brown Tortie girl. A friend who was a crossword addict & into anagrams came up with the name of “Rumba” for her, an anagram of Burma, hence my breeding prefix “RUMBA”.
I became seriously interested in breeding Burmese in 1982 when I bought two lovely brown girls. Ch. Sphenic Sukina, mother of our famous blue tortie girl Gr. Ch. & Gr. Pr. Rumba Edelweiss & Sphenic Shalimar, mother of our very special chocolate boy  “Duke”,  Gr. Ch. Rumba Dapper Duke. The UK’s first Gr. Ch. Chocolate male.
From these early days with the advice & assistance from some super new friends we have made along the way, the “RUMBA “ Burmese line has grown.
As a Health Service Manager I look after the health & welfare of our cats, including obstetrics, & as a Judge of Burmese, British, Foreign, Semi Long Hair cats,  Persians , & Siamese suggest our possible show entries. Showing being a pastime enjoyed by the whole family. My husband John, a retired Computer Emgineer, looks after all the technical bits & pieces like this web site, our pedigrees & mating certificates. .
My elder daughter Nessa, working in NHS  looks after the essential supplies, & humans get food occasionally too. Our younger daughter Fen who specialises in beauty therapy owning her own salon, “Siesta Beauty” takes care of the pedicures & show preparation.
We are all particularly fond of our three stud boys who love their cuddles, & can be handled by anyone, so should you try to phone us you will probably get the answer phone, but we will phone you back.
We have several lovely girls who you will find on our Roll Of Honour. Together with our boys they produce some beautiful kittens all with renown loving & playful temperament as most of our kittens go to homes as idolised pets.

Our “Duke” was very special to all of us. As our first stud boy we all learnt together about the problems & pleasures in owning & caring for an entire male & his lady friends. “Duke” was the first Gr. Ch. Chocolate Male Burmese in this country & has sired many beautiful award winning kittens with his delightful temperament. His first litter included our dear friends Tim & Kathy Blakes Gr. Ch. Kathima Prince Rambo 27c which was followed by our own Gr. Ch. Rumba Quintessent Quasar 27f. Now no longer with us having passed away in his 17th year. His memory lives on with his offspring.
